One van, one phone line and a lot of patience.
Bellwether started in 1979 with a used van, a pipe threader and a phone line that rang in the kitchen. The first jobs came from neighbors, and the neighbors told their friends.
For years the shop ran out of a garage on Tolliver Avenue. Calls came in at supper and in the middle of the night, and someone always picked up. That habit became the company's promise.
Today the founder's daughter runs the business, with a crew of licensed plumbers and a small remodeling team. The van is long retired, but the phone still gets answered by a person.
