The Story of the House
Two wings that finally found each other.
Seaspray House began as two separate cottages on the same lane, built by neighbors who shared a fence and a view.
The beginning
Two cottages, one fence.
The story we tell guests is that two families built their cottages side by side, each with half a porch and a good view of the water. For decades they were told apart by the color of their shutters.
When the families grew close, the cottages followed. A single roof and one long porch brought the two halves together.
The quiet years
A house waiting for a kettle.
The house stood empty through a few hard winters. Paint peeled, shutters hung loose and the porch sagged, but the bones held and the view never changed.
Someone always left a light on in an upstairs window, and neighbors say it kept the house from being forgotten.
The restoration
Put back together, board by board.
Carpenters rebuilt the trim by hand, copying the old brackets, railings and windows from faded photographs and the shapes left in the wood.
Then came the paint: a soft pink chosen from a chip found under a layer of gray in the old pantry.
Today
A house that is lived in again.
Today the house is a working bed and breakfast, kept by a small team that cooks, paints and sweeps the porch.
We keep fixing what time wears down, and we invite you to be part of the next chapter of the house.
